1909 JACKSON
Touring Car 4 cyl. 30 h.p. Model H Price new: ,675
No sand too deep, no hill too steep was the motto of the Jackson. The company
built a good car with more than ample power and sold it at a reasonable price.
The Jackson market was largely in the farm country, where economy and power
were of prime importance. The condition of the roads in the middle west in the
early 1900's was little better than shocking, and an automobile had to have lots
of power to endure mud, sand, and steep hills with rough surfaces. The Jackson
was successful in a number of hill-climbing contests and races from Massachusetts
to Colorado. These were the days when entering stock cars in competition was
very effective advertising. The Touring Car was the middle-sized model in Jacksons
1909 line. This one now belongs to Joseph Thamm, of Huntington, New York, who
restored it himself.
