    Description

This is 100% genuine paint from the Corvette Assembly Plant in Bowling Green, Ky.
It  is a good example of what the buildup of paint looks  like when it comes off the rails.  It is referred to as "ROUGH" and that is a good description.  This piece has a polished area.  It is a perfect example of "before" and "after".  Scroll to check the photos for measurements taken with a ruler.
Every Corvette that has been manufactured, since 1981, has been built in the factory near Bowling Green, Kentucky. As the Corvettes were manufactured, and as they passed through the painting process, there was over-spray and drips that built up on the assembly line rails. There were approximately 145 Corvettes per day that went through the painting process. It takes approximately 1,000 layers of paint to equal 1 inch of buildup.  That's 125 layers of paint for only 1/8"!  Periodically, about every 4 to 6 months, as part of the maintenance of the factory assembly line rails.  This has also been called Fordite and Motor City Agate  and Detroit Agate.
