The
People's Coalition for Peace and Justice
included was an umbrella group of several peace, anti-poverty, racial equity and labor groups. These groups worked together to confront the related issues of war in Southeast Asia, racism, sexism, poverty, and repression in the United States. The coalition was founded in 1970 and organized numerous demonstrations, sit in and other forms of protest to demand an end to the war in Vietnam, black civil rights and government action to end poverty. It was regularly targeted by the FBI and the Nixon administration.
