The
New York Peace Action Coalition (NYPAC)
was formed in 1969 by a number
SDS (Students For A Democratic Society)
students from Columbia University and New York University. At the time the SDS was going through a great deal of internal turmoil on who would control the organization. SDS members at Columbia and NYU wanted to form a coalition in support of the national leadership. Hence the NYPAC was formed. Many of its members would later go on to join the
Radical Youth Movement (RYM)
under the leadership of Bernardine Dohrn.
