This is a very neat novelty item that actually works! Called
Zip-Out
it is a vacuum ashtray. It was developed in the 1950's and is suitable for cars and trucks of the 1950's and 60's. It operates by  flipping a switch and the vacuum sucks the ash and butts into a canister as shown in canister
The unit mounts below or under the instrument panel and a 4 foot long vacuum hose goes through the firewall and is attached to a connection on the intake manifold. The kit contains all of the necessary fittings and screws for mounting. Made by the Vacuum Ashtray Inc. Fairview, Oregon.
